A domain registrar is an organization that has the right to delegate unique domain names, register, certify and renew existing domains.
Domains for the site can be in different zones, regional, having a territorial reference, such as ua, ru, kz, su, and international (com, net). New domain zones, such as club, online, me and so on, appear regularly, after approvals and approvals in favor of a new domain name. Thematic domain zones such as agency, consulting and others appear.
Delegation is available through accredited registrars with a single database, which does not allow the registration of identical names and duplication of existing ones. Technically, domains are stored on distributed servers with strong intellectual protection and backup of information. Companies providing delegation are required to provide technical points and are responsible for the security of the databases.
There are several organizations controlling the issuance of names. First of all, it is an international non-profit organization ICANN. Regional and territorial domain zones may be controlled by the government. Government domain zones undergo additional special checks.
Registrars can have different levels:
The company, which has received full accreditation, can register domain names of any level and in any territorial and international zone.
Information about who the domain registrar is is stored in databases and is required for registration renewals. If the registrar ceases operations, it is obliged to transfer the databases. The responsibility for maintaining domain names is transferred to other registrars.
